Project summary:

The project goal is the commercialisation of IoT telecommunication and navigation antennas manufactured using Selective Surface Activation Induced by Laser (SSAIL) on a 3D free-shape polymers. SSAIL technology reduces the volume, weight, energy consumption of the IoT devices and is beneficial for the product design. During the project, the testing of the antennas in the operational environment and demonstration to the users and/or customer will be carried out.

Project funding:

This project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments under measure No. 01.2.2-MITA-K-702 “Promoting the Commercialisation and Internationalisation of R&D”.

Project results:

Four types of actual antennae using Selective Surface Activation Induced by Laser (SSAIL) technology were manufactured. The metallisation was plated directly onto the Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Polyether Ether Ketone (PEEK) polymer substrates. Antennae characteristics were measured in an electromagnetic anechoic chamber. The antennae were demonstrated to the users in an operational environment and user feedback was received.
